Welcome to STRIVE
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a term applied to a group of idiopathic, chronic conditions that are characterized by inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and a progressive course that includes periods of exacerbations and remissions.
- ~3.1 million: individuals in the US with IBD
- 70,000: new cases in the US each year
- 20%: patients who have a sibling who shares similar disease
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two most common IBD conditions, and both are characterized by a dysregulated immune response. A growing understanding of the immunopathogenesis of IBD has opened exciting avenues for developing targeted therapies by uncovering underlying pathogenic triggers.
Our STRIVE program is an online tool that aims to provide clinicians and patients with up-to-date information on the presentation, prognosis, pathophysiology, and treatment strategies for individuals with IBD. Our goal is to provide information that empowers clinicians and patients to speak openly about treatment decisions and improve the standard of care for patients with this challenging disease.
